Acipen-V is a narrow-spectrum antibiotic of the penicillin type. It affects certain types of bacteria. It is stable in gastric acid but is inactivated by penicillinase (enzyme that breaks down penicillin).
Phenoxymethylpenicillin is used to treat non-severe to moderately severe infections caused by phenoxymethylpenicillin-sensitive micro-organisms, particularly Streptococci.
Acipen-V is a licensed medicine in the Netherlands.
When this medicine is supplied outside the Netherlands, it is considered to be an unlicensed medicine in the country of the recipient.
