Chloroquine prevents the division of malaria parasites in the blood. A-CQ 100 is therefore prescribed for both the prophylaxis and treatment of malaria.
Chloroquine inhibits the formation of autoimmune antibodies. A-CQ 100 can therefore be prescribed for the treatment of specific forms of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and treatment of the autoimmune disease systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).
A-CQ 100 is a licensed medicine in the Netherlands. On 22 October 2018 the Marketing Autorisation has been transferred from ARTECEF BV to Ace Pharmaceuticals BV.
When this medicine is supplied outside the Netherlands, it is considered to be an unlicensed medicine in the country of the recipient.
In the Netherlands, A-CQ 100 is distributed to (hospital)pharmacies by the pharmaceutical wholesalers.
